I’ve already added some salt and vinegar ones to next week’s food shop as I think they’re fun and do have an element of being healthier than other crisps. I wont be letting the girls eat them more often just because these are slightly ‘better’ for you but it’s nice to know when they do have them it’s not all terrible.
In blog land that is, everything has been going on behind the scenes but stuff has been happened! I’ve moved the blog over to self hosted, which means I’ll have greater control of what I can do but the downside was it cost a bunch of money to pay someone to do the transfer for me and to pay for a year’s hosting and all that jazz. But it’s been something I’ve wanted to do for ages I just hated the thought of all that money going on something I do as a hobby but then I realised this blog isnt just a hobby, it’s a little bit of our lives, pictures and posts about things we’ve done – a virtual photo album maybe with a ton of pictures of both girls growing up! So yes it was worth it and it all belongs to me now to keep forever!
Next on the list is to give it a bit of a make over and to go round and update things as when I started this there was just Chloe but now there’s Izzy too! Plus I need to finish off about 12 half drafted posted about bits and pieces. And I want to blog about other things that interest me, so I shall!
So anyway just thought I’d say I havent vanished I just couldnt post for a bit whilst things were going on and happily it all went smoothly and hopefully nothing went missing in the process!
Okay so Real Nappy week is over with for another year and I have to say this year was more fun than any other I’ve been part of! I can only hope it’s onwards and upwards from now on and next year there will be more nappy events and other fluffy happenings!
I didnt win anything but I did enjoy taking part – some things were a little more tedious than others but still I did buy a few bits. Chloe is now nappy-less both day and night, which deserves a huge post on its own about how brilliantly she’s done, a few days and she’s cracked it, she’s getting so grown up!! But yes I shall do a post about all that soon, Izzy of course is still in nappies and I did splurge a little, a few bits havent arrived yet but I shall do fluffy mail posts for them as and when but here’s a pic of some of the things.
Pretties!! Freetimes were on offer for £10 at Baba Me so I *had* to get a few as they are just so easy to use, The Dino Dunk and Fluff was from there too. The Monkey Foot wetbag (there was another as well, oops) and Hooligans nappy were from Baby Peach who had some great offers too. Plus there’s a Little Gumnut fitted nappy and a few bits and pieces from Funky Monkey Pants to come – which were mostly not nappy related I have to say! I think I was quite restrained really!
Some things which I wanted to get but didnt were night nappies, Izzy is 7 months now and boosting a day nappy just isnt working well so on to fitteds and wool it is. I have my eye on some Holden’s Landings Bedbugs – just need to save a few pennies first! I must do an updated stash pic one day, now that the sun is making an appearance it’s easy to get things washed in the morning and dried on the line so I shall have a go this bank holiday weekend maybe. Actually it’d be a lot easier to do it in two separate chunks, oh it feels like a challenge!
There will be some changes on the blog coming up, I’ll be moving over to self hosted soon and getting a bit of an overhaul so if this look a bit wonky or vanish then dont worry I’ll be back! hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather and let me know what you splurged on during RNW!
Another fab fluffy event being held this Real Nappy Week is the brilliantly named Clothopoly! Full instructions on it can be found here, but basically you play the game by collecting pieces on supporter’s sites or facebook pages and then entering the URL of where you found each piece on the form here. There are also some ‘easy’ ways to enter by liking the supporters pages.
Sounds easy huh? Well actually it is a little harder than it sounds as there are 66 supporters and therefore 66 pieces to find! And in order to be entered into the grand prize draw you need to note down the letter on each piece that you find and when you’ve collected them all (and entered all the URLs into the form) you need to unjumble the letters to form a phrase which you also have to put into the form, phew! But dont worry, the game runs all week so there is no need to rush, I think little and often is the key to not getting burnout as it is a mammoth task!
To make it a bit easier the playing board contains links to every supporter (and the three daily giveaways mentioned below) and if you get stuck you can ask on the supporters facebook pages for help. Some have been giving clues away already and others are remaining quiet till later on in the week! This is a really big undertaking, and I’ve only managed to find a few so far.
The prizes are amazing, the total giveaway fund is over £8,300 with the grand prize itself being £500 worth of nappies, accessories and a changing bag (remember you’re only entered into this if you find all the pieces/submit the URLs and enter the phase). Then there are 10 runners up prizes worth £250 each and another 50 smaller prizes worth £75 each (you get an entry for the smaller prizes with every piece/URL you enter).
Plus there are three daily prizes up for grabs everyday of the week as well! You can find them on the Clothopoly playing board. There are two daily ‘Nappy Stash’ giveaways and a ‘Potty Luck’ giveaway – remember these only run until midnight, so check back each day for new ones. So far there’s been lots of fluffy goodness won and also five Trunki toyboxes and a Pink Lining bag!
So along with this and The Great British Nappy Hunt, I think this really is the best Real Nappy Week ever – not to mention all the discounts, I hope there’s lots of exposure for fluff and lots of new new fluffy converts!
Do let me know if you’ve managed to complete the Clothopoly (without giving any clues away), I’m off for another bit of searching, good luck!
Something new for this RNW is that retailers are grouping together in order to better promote RNW and of course give us some fun and the chance to win big fluffy prizes along the way. The Great British Nappy Hunt has already started but you can join in everyday until the 21st April (register here). There are daily prizes and each correct entry also gets entered into the grand prize draw at the end of the week.
Once you’ve registered everyday you’ll get an email telling you what the daily prizes are and giving you a clue to start off the hunt! The clue will lead you to one of the supporters sites where you’ll have to search the pages to find Billy. Once you find and click on him you’ll then be taken to a page to answer some fun fluffy questions (answers again will be on supporters sites, facebook or on TGBNH’s page). And you can even pick which prize it is you’d prefer to win! You’ll get a confirmation email congratulating you on finding Billy and there will also be another clue to the second hunt to find Billy, and again once you find him you answer the questions to enter.
So there’s two hunts a day, so double the chance to win as each completed hunt gets you one entry into both the daily and weekly prize draws!! I’ve completed yesterdays and although it was tough at first the second time was much easier, I’ve yet to do today’s but I will do so as soon as I get a spare minute!
So dont forget to sign up and get hunting from now until sunday as it wont be back again until next year – at least I hope it will be back! And as if that wasnt enough to keep you amused this RNW, dont forget to play Clothopoly and of course there’s always some fluffy shopping to be had with all the amazing discounts going on everywhere!
